With the increase of people riding bicycles in Seattle, The number of bicycle/pedestrian or bicycle/vehicle related incidents increase as well. When someone is injured by a bicycle such as being knocked down or when someone’s car is injured by a negligent rider, how are bicyclists insured? Why don’t cyclists have mandatory insurance (covering both themselves and others) and licenses like boats, motorcycles, trailers, dogs, cats and scooters? The issuance of a license would help all cyclists learn the safety rules of the road.
